The Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) of California State University, Bakersfield provides an official voice to express students' opinions on university and statewide affairs. ASI seeks to protect the rights and interests of individual students and the student body as a whole. ASI also provides resources and programs to help students develop  leadership skills and broaden their awareness of social, educational, political and cultural issues.

The Associated Students, Inc. is comprised of a Board of Directors, with directors from each school, class level, and the residence halls, in addition to the student body President and Vice Presidents. Decisions made by the Board members affect all students. ASI serves as the primary voice regarding student interests and issues. 

ASI has been instrumental several projects that have enhanced the campus community. ASI assisted in the planning, development, design, and construction of the Student Union, and Runner Park was designed and funded entirely by ASI for the enjoyment of students, past, present, and future. Student body fees provide ongoing support for student government, a variety of clubs and organizations, activities, services, athletics, and the children’s center at CSUB 

ASI is more than just a student government. It is a unique organization that fosters student leadership and involvement in educational, cultural, and social activities.
