Extraordinary level of student-faculty interaction

At CSU Bakersfield, you won’t be just another face in the crowd. You will work closely with highly qualified and experienced Ph.D. professors in modern classroom and laboratory settings. CSUB’s faculty members are respected academic experts, published researchers, and engaged community leaders – as well as dedicated educators who genuinely care about their students’ success.

Career opportunities

CSUB prepares students to succeed in challenging and rewarding careers in a wide range of fields. Many departments offer internships that give students practical, real-world experience. Graduates have a high rate of employment, with many going straight into prestigious professions where they utilize their CSUB education every day.

Community engagement

The entire local community benefits from the energy, expertise, and enthusiasm of CSU Bakersfield’s students, faculty, and staff. The university continues to help shape the future of Kern County through student internships, research, campus institutions, and community events. Each year CSU Bakersfield contributes more than 2,000 new alumni to the community’s educated and skilled workforce.

Time for fun, too!

Students at CSU Bakersfield take school seriously, but there’s also plenty of time to enjoy student life on and around campus. CSUB features a state-of-the-art student recreation center, over 85 student organizations and clubs, and 11 fraternities and sororities. Students also enjoy Roadrunner NCAA Division I sporting events, on-campus performances, and plenty of dining and entertainment options in the city of Bakersfield.

Larger schools in Los Angeles and Fresno seemed too big and intimidating. CSUB has the classes I need without the long wait-lists that the other schools have. Also, CSUB is close to home, and it would have been expensive to move out. Close Quote
